Mesothelioma [HBME-1]

Ref: AP10254 - Clone: HBME-1 - Host: Mouse - Method: P - Format: Ready to use

Manufacturer: Gennova

This antibody stains cytoplasm and cell membrane from normal, pleural and peritoneal mesothelial cells; and from neoplastic mesothelial epithelium. Cell membrane ans cytoplasm from mesothelioma stains positive to HBME-1, but the gross membrane staining pattern turned out to be a more useful marker for the diagnose of malignant mesothelioma. There are other tissues (either malignant or normal) which also are immunoreactive to HBME-1, although immunostain is much lighter.

Clone: HBME-1
Isotype: IgM/kappa
Immunogen: A suspension of human mesotheliema cells from patients with malignant epithelial mesothelioma.
Staining pattern: Cell membrane.
Positive control: Tissue sample from mesothelioma.

This antibody is designed for the specific localization of human mesothelioma using IHC techniques in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
This antibody stains mesothelial cells in normal cells. In tumorous cells, it reacts with epithelial mesotheliomas 17/19 with the “gross membrane” staining pattern. This staining pattern correlates with the abundant “microvillis” present in the surface of cell membrane. It has been proved the HBME-1 positivity in 19/50 different origin carcinomas being the observed staining pattern cytoplasmic, although occasionally it appears a light cell membrane stain. It is not observed cross reaction with kidney, liver, lung, ovary or pancreas tissues.
