GCDFP-15 (Gross Cystic Disease Fluid Protein -15) is a monomeric protein, which together with other proteins such as GCDFP-24 (also known as apolipoprotein-D) and GCDFP-44 (also known as zinc-α2-glycoprotein) form the pathological fluid secreted by the mama in macrocystic disease. This disease is a premenopausal disorder, in which macrocysts are the predominant lesions, and is characterized by the production of that fluid, which is accumulated in mama cysts.
Cells producers of GCDFP-15 seem to be restricted to those with apocrine function, such as mama cysts and apocrine glands in axil, vulva, eyelid and external auditory canal. GCDFP-15 is coded on chromosome 7. The protein acts like a protease which cleaves fibronectin. It is induced by prolactin and androgens.

Clone: EP1582Y
Isotype: IgG
Immunogen: A synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the N-terminus of human GCDFP-15.
Staining pattern: Cytoplasmic.
Positive control: Tissue sample from breast.

This antibody is designed for the specific localization of human GCDFP-15using IHC techniques in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
Some studies have described that GCDFP-15 can be a highly specific marker and sensitive for the mama cancer. Approximately, the 70% of carcinomas are positivity for this antibody. On the other hand, colorectal carcinomas and mesotheliomas are not positive for this antibody. Lungs adenocarcinomas, rarely are stained by this antibody. GCDFP-15 and the specific prostatic antigen are coexpressed in positive mama cancers for androgens receptors.
